A fire erupted on the sea surface in the Gulf of Mexico when a gas pipeline leaked, igniting the blaze on Friday. Mexico’s state-owned Pemex petrol company said rain and an electrical storm and heavy rains damaged the pipeline about 140 metres from the KU-C satellite platform. workers used nitrogen to get the flames under control in five hours – no injuries or evacuations were reported.
